The bean weevil (Acanthoscelides obtectus Say) is a beetle with a 3 to 5mm length and an olive-brown colour with dark-brown spots. Its elytra only cover parts of its body, and its development from egg to adult bean weevil takes anywhere between 70 to 80 days at a 13° Celsius temperature. The bean weevil is primarily found in stocks of white, brown, pinto and broad beans.
